City gives FBC, Dallas, permission to attempt to preserve exterior walls of historic sanctuary
"The fire has deeply affected many people, regardless of their faith, as historic buildings are essential to our architectural and cultural heritage."
First Baptist Church of Dallas has been granted permission by the City of Dallas to preserve the exterior walls of its late 19th-century sanctuary following a four-alarm fire last July 19.
The red-brick walls are the only remaining parts of the historic structure. First Baptist Dallas Senior Executive Pastor Ben Lovvorn said in a video to the church’s congregation that the city has approved efforts to preserve the historic walls, stating that they will do everything they can to save them.
“The fire has deeply affected many people, regardless of their faith, as historic buildings are essential to our architectural and cultural heritage,” wrote Karen Eubank for CandysDirt.com, an award-winning Dallas real estate news site.
