Daniel Ritchie, author of 'My Affliction for His Glory,' to be nominated for SBC leadership position at June meeting
Evangelist and author Daniel Ritchie is expected to be nominated for first vice president of the Southern Baptist Convention Annual Meeting set for June 10-11 at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in Dallas.
Matt Capps, lead pastor of Fairview Baptist Church in Apex, N.C., lauded Ritchie in the Biblical Recorder as a dedicated and passionate advocate for Christ, emphasizing the importance of recognizing the contributions of vocational evangelists. Capps plans to nominate Ritchie.
“Daniel Ritchie is among the most faithful, consistent, and passionate witnesses for Christ that Southern Baptists have seen raised up in this generation,” Capps said.
Ritchie has established himself as a prominent speaker over the past two decades, addressing a wide array of audiences across the country, including churches and schools. His background includes serving as a student pastor before transitioning to a full-time evangelistic role, where he has also contributed to various ministry publications.
In his book “My Affliction for His Glory,” Ritchie recounts his journey of overcoming challenges related to being born without arms. His story emphasizes the importance of faith and finding purpose in life, illustrating how he transformed his struggles into a testimony of God's plans for him.
Ritchie is a member of The Summit Church, a multisite congregation in the Raleigh-Durham area, whose pastor is J.D. Greear, past SBC president.
