Four candidates will vie for president of the Southern Baptist Convention

Three months ahead of the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) annual meeting, a four-way race for the denomination’s presidency has emerged. The current SBC President, Bart Barber, is serving his second consecutive term and is ineligible for re-election.
Let’s take a closer look at the announced candidates:
David Allen – Allen is a former preaching professor at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He represents a particular iteration on the scale of SBC conservatism. His candidacy brings institutional experience and theological insights. Read more about David Allen at ChurchLeaders.com.
Jared Moore – Moore is the senior pastor of Homesteads Baptist Church in Crossville, Tennessee. He is affiliated with some of the most conservative parts of the SBC. While each candidate brings unique strengths and perspectives, the election of a president will ultimately determine who will lead the SBC in the coming year during its many challenges.
