Iorg elected president/CEO of the Southern Baptist Executive Committee after long search
The Executive Committee's previous permanent president, Ronnie Floyd, resigned amid debate about how to handle an investigation into sexual abuse within the convention.
Jeff Iorg, 65, a California seminary president, was elected president and CEO of the Southern Baptist Convention's Executive Committee today (March 21).
Iorg’s elections end a more than two-year search that was disrupted in August when the committee's interim leader admitted to falsifying his resume.
“Today’s unanimous vote marks a significant turning point for the SBC Executive Committee and the SBC as a whole,” said Philip Robertson, chairman.
