Pence talks abortion, politics and prayer in appearance at ERLC event at SBC Indy
Terry Mattingly asks, "Are Southern Baptists ‘normal Evangelicals’ these days?”
Former Vice President Mike Pence spoke to Southern Baptists at a luncheon event hosted by the Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission (ERLC) across the street from the annual meeting of the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) where he criticized President Joe Biden, questioned the future of the Republican Party and upheld faith as the answer for the country’s problems, the Religion News Service reported.
While the media considers the ERLC a big player in the “religious right,” many Southern Baptists disagree with its politics and want the entity dissolved and its leader, Brent Leatherwood, fired.
Terry Mattingly, host of the Crossroads Podcast, asks: “Are Southern Baptists ‘normal Evangelicals’ these days?” Mattingly discusses on the podcast tensions inside the SBC and what they are really about, at a time when many Southern Baptists are enthusiastic supporters of Trump, others are reluctant Trump voters, and others wish they had more choices at the ballot box.
