Trump to Americans: 'I stand before you in this arena only by the grace of Almighty God'
"Watching the reports over the last few days, many people say it was a providential moment. Probably was," said the Republican nominee.
Just days following an assassination attempt on his life, former President Donald Trump delivered his Republican nomination acceptance speech on the final day of the Republican National Convention where he reflected on life and emphasized unity.
The former U.S. President told delegates and guests at the Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee that he is running for “all” of America – not just half of America, in an apparent reference to factions in the Democratic Party that vilifies the “Make America Great Again” (MAGA) movement as being destructive for the country.
Trump recounted the events at a campaign rally on July 13 in Butler, Penn., when an assassin’s bullet clipped his right ear, killed a rally attendee, and injured two others.
“I stand before you in this arena only by the grace of Almighty God,” he said, adding “Watching the reports over the last few days, many people say it was a providential moment. Probably was.”

Trump emphasized that every moment on Earth is a gift from God, citing the Bible or crediting God with sparing life, and led a moment of silence for Corey Compartore, the fire chief who lost his life in the assassination attempt. He cited John 15:13, “Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friend,” saying it is a testament to the power of God in his life.
“This is what we need. Despite such a heinous attack, we unite this evening, more determined than ever. Our resolve is unbroken and our purpose is unchanged, to deliver a government that serves the American people better than ever before,” he said.
