A federal judge sentenced a Chinese citizen to more than eight years in prison for lighting several fires in a historic Montgomery, Ala., church.
Xiaoqin Yan, 30, entered First Baptist Church in downtown Montgomery on Sept. 29, 2021. Surveillance showed her carrying duffel bags and a plastic bag into the building during Wednesday night service. At about 2 a.m., security cameras revealed Yan removing silver containers from one of the bags. Yan walked around the church starting multiple fires and then left.
