Regional director says that NAMB has no problem with women preachers, according to emails that have surfaced
Powerful pastors and agency leaders in the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) have always been quick to label alternative opinion and news sources as being written by bloggers in their basements attempting to “sow discord among the brethren” (Proverbs 6:19), but it is often those very sources that bring to light important information about the denomination.
The Baptist Report believes these sources – though not always accurate and sometimes published by those with an axe to grind – serve an important role in getting the full story of what is happening in the SBC. The reality is that the Baptist Press, SBC’s official public relations and news source, and other SBC-related “news” entities either won’t or can’t publish this information for fear of political backlash.
One of these alternative sources is The Dissenter, a Substack written by Jim McCraigh of Reformation Charlotte, which sometimes points out unsavory activities of the evangelical churches and other church-related entities – not just the SBC.
Such is the case with a post from June 10 titled, “NAMB Regional Director Admits They Have No Problem With Women Preachers.” In the article, McCraigh shares emails by Dean Fulk, the regional director for the Ohio Valley Region at the North American Mission Board (NAMB), that run counter to public statements made by the SBC entity and its president, Kevin Ezell, regarding women pastors.
It’s worth a read, and if you like – or dislike because McCraigh is telling you something you would rather not know but need to know – be sure to subscribe to his Substack.
